Arkanoid - Techhouse RMX - arranged by daXX offline

Review by Instant Remedy, 17/01/2010

I can just say WOW!
The production values and technical skills are top notch. The beat is really catchy and thumpin'. Cool effects and stuff to go with the beat. Structure is actually pretty interesting and keeps you listeing to see whats next. Only downside with these kind of remixes is that the closer you get to a *real* dancefloor remix the further you get from the original. DaXX went all the way to get this to the floor and it succeeded with highest marks. DaXX fattest remix to date (and I've probably heard them all).

Druid II - arranged by daXX offline

Review by Instant Remedy, 26/04/2007

Real well executed commercial-sounding remix, top marks for technical achievement and sound! Impressive.
Although, I can't really say why I don't want to push play on winamp again. There wasn't any "magic" even if it sounded oustanding. It sounds really like a song from the Replay-series (Replay Dance Mania etc.) with remixed hits from the 80s and 90s which are lined up and machine-gunned out by popular remixers. I don't mean daXX made this in a coffe-break, I'm sure he had himself working many hours to get it sounding this good. The voice becomes a little too much at times, could have been used less with better effect. I also agree that the sound is a bit to "hard" to fit the original, just like the case with most remixes in the Replay-series.
There is something missing to keep it interesting even if it has a sound which is way above standards for this genre at RKO. But I'll be looking for daXX at RKO in the future!

Noisy Pillars (Euro-4-Sure Mix) - arranged by Sonic Wanderer

Review by Instant Remedy, 13/05/2005

Whohoo!
I love it when Sonic does this!
When he does his magic mixture of "enhanced" spacedance, eurodisco and trance. Never heard the original but it doesn't matter, I only had to hear this tune once to love it!
Nice, smooth sound and good use of sounds. Cool voice sample too
This is not the first time Sonic inspired me to make music, I feel like just going home from work and start making music. Too bad there is no time for that in the nearest future.
Thanks for the music Sonic!

Angel (Merry X-Max) - arranged by Lagerfeldt

Review by Instant Remedy, 08/12/2004

Ok, this IS my cup of tea. Eurodance/trance will always be good when Lagerfeldt is producing. Great sounding female vocals, a perfect fit. Not too sure about the "bassdrum action" though, but it serves a purpose, the break is cool.
The tune have a very happy feel to it as it also states, but also enegetic and powerful - just the way I like it. Cool Safri Duo part too. Since I've never heard the original I have to put a green one on the Nostalgia.
I really miss this kind of music on the radio and the clubs! I'm sick to death of RNB and hiphop.

Outer Space (Spaceboost Remix) - arranged by Sonic Wanderer

Review by Instant Remedy, 07/06/2004

This remix is real nice, much depending on the fact that it sounds like Laserdance/Koto but with the energy times 2!
Sonic Wanderer has evolved from the traditional dance-sound to the spacedance genre with his latest remixes and with great results.

He has the the right feel and sound, but with a lot more energy and a more contemporary sound. The percussion is great and not so soft/oldskool as the genre otherwise suggests (and it doesn't sound compressed to death either, good work ) Vocoder parts also real cool.
Haven't heard the original yet, but I really like this remix.

I Wish I get some spare time some day to experiment with the spacedance genre too…

Comic Bakery (feat Hanna Kappelin & Morpheus) - arranged by o2

Review by Instant Remedy, 07/06/2004

This struck me like lighting, I just had to sign up to be able to review and tell everybody how wonderful this tune is! (This is my first review).
The vocals fits SO well to the arrangement which is solid and very well done. Everything feels so complete in to every detail. Good thing making the remix a non-dance version too, which O2 don't usually do anyway.
It's not so Jarre-ish as I expected at first, maybe because of the vocals. There are of course some classic Jarre/O2 sounds, but I feel the tune takes Jarre closer to O2 rather than taking O2 closer to Jarre which makes for a perfect blend.
I don't know if there is any reason for me to say anything about every little detail that is good, noone would bother to read this review to the end…

Now there is no doubt that Comic Bakey is my all time fave of SIDs.
I've listened to this remix at least 15 times and if I'm not listening to it, I'm humming it silently til my throat hurts.
